NHS doctor Tom Micklewright has given the MIR Spirobank Smart a glowing independent review in his latest video on youtube.
Dr Mickelwright, who reguarly posts reviews specifically on health apps and technology, has described the device as “revolutionary” as COVID-19 continues to cause problems with conducting routine spirometry testing in a practice setting.
The MIR Spirobank Smart is a handheld pocket-sized spirometer that connects wirelessly to an android or iOS device running the free Spirometry App. This concept allows spirometry testing to continue whilst in the comfort and safety of the patient’s home.
Spirometry testing is performed via video call to ensure compliance with the app recording and storing the test results. A report is prepared as a PDF complete with graphs, and is sent directly from the app to the healthcare professional.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, many practices and hospitals across the UK have limited and/or have suspended spirometry testing.
The MIR Spirobank Smart offers a solution to the problem and many hospitals and GP practices across the UK are now actively adapting and embracing innovative technologies.
